StoryCorps is looking for mom/stepmom teams to interview!
I got this news event from Jennifer Newcomb Marine and I’ve already contacted Eve Claxton. Richard’s ex-wife and I have agreed to do this – we’re just now working out a day/time to record our story.
Anyone else interested?
StoryCorps is the National Oral History Project. Our mission is to record the stories of everyday Americans across the country and to archive them in the Library of Congress. Every StoryCorps interview takes place as a conversation between two people: relatives, friends, co-workers or loved ones. Every participant receives a CD of their conversation to keep.
Sometimes we reach out to people in situations we haven’t heard from before and invite them to record with us. We would love to invite step-mom/bio-mom friends to talk about their relationship together.
The deadline is the end of August, so if you think you might be interested, hop on the stick and write to Eve at eclaxton@storycorps.org letting her know!
And can you help us publicize this very special opportunity by spreading the word to the rest of the stepmom/divorced-mom community?

I’m Becoming a FLYBaby!
A sister stepmom turned me on to FlyLady – the diva of decluttering your home! I’m just getting started (so that means I’m a FLYBaby) but if any area of my life could use a GOOD system, it would be my home.
What to expect if you decide to join FlyLady
FlyLady uses the Sidetracked Home Executive (SHE) system as a basis for organizing her home and her life. She adds humor, spunk, and a dose of common sense to her advice, but be prepared – FlyLady does not allow whining. You have to get off your “Franny”!
First, you join as a FlyBaby. You will receive your e-mail Welcome Letters from FlyLady instructing you on how to get started. You will also receive regular e-mail reminders from FlyLady about zones, decluttering, laundry, shoes (honestly – shoes are very important here!) and more. Don’t feel overwhelmed! FlyLady will keep you on track using small baby steps. And FlyBabies – no peeking at all of the routines, etc. shown on the FlyLady website. You are just getting started!
