Love Yourself First

When you take a stand for loving yourself, those around you can’t help but do the same.  Loving yourself is ncessary for a happy life.  Loving yourself is necessary if you want others to love you.

Tess Marshall, “Flying By the Seat of My Soul.”

Sister Stepmoms,

Are you tired of being a stepmom?  Tired of doing everything for everyone else and feeling like no one cares about you?

How much do you care about you?  How much do you love you?

When was the last time you did something that was all yours?  Something that makes your heart soar and  your soul sing?

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and told yourself, “I love you?”

  1. This is very timely for me…. I am in the process of taking more time for me….

  2. Perfect timing, I have been taking the time for myself for the past couple of weeks. It is not always easy to love yourself but I agree if you can’t how can you expect anyone else to?

    Great post!

  3. Jamie,

I am glad this is timely for you. I read your post today – please let me know if there’s anything I can help with. Also – be looking out for the schedule of events for October on the Stepmom’s Toolbox. Tess Marshall will be the guest of honor later in the month!

  4. Hi Life!

It takes women a long time to learn that in order for others to love us as we want to be loved, we must first love ourselves exactly how we want to be loved! I can only hope that I can help teach this life lesson to women younger than me so they don’t spin their wheels the way I did until I learned this!

    Thanks for stopping by today!

Counldn’t have read this at a better time. I have just made a fool of myself in front of my husband and the stepkids not far off. And as I have pondered my actions over the last hour…I think it is because I don’t love myself, and what I have let myself become. I need to start taking care of me first, then only will I be able to take care of others…

  6. Hi Tonya and welcome to the Toolbox!

I am glad this post spoke to you. Please know that you are not a fool…as stepmoms we’re often given the test first without learning the lessons first. The lessons get learned after the test! Please dig into The Toolbox for advice and tips on how to take care of you. Check in this month as I have a full Guest line up for October! Tomorrow, I have Laura Petherbride, co-author of “The Smart Stepmom” joining us on The Toolbox!
