Father's Day June 21!
The History of Father’s Day
This isn’t a day that the Greeting Card invented…in fact, Father’s Day was proposed by Mrs. John Dodd in 1909 to honor her Civil War veteran father. Mrs. Dodd wanted to honor the selflessness and strength of her widower father who raised 6 children as a single parent! Pretty darn impressive!
Father’s Day holds that kind of special meaning to me because my father fought for and won custody of me and my three brothers in 1971 – a time when dads never won custody. You can read my Dad’s story in June’s issue of The StepMom Magazine (page 25)
Honoring the Dads in My Life This Weekend
Ladies – this is the weekend we get to honor our favorite men…and for me, that’s my dad and my husband.
Richard and I are taking my dad and my step mom out for dinner on Saturday night. Not sure where…could be near the beach camp or closer to home. Just depends on where dad is tomorrow!
Sunday morning, Richard’s two daughters will come over (along with our new grand baby) and join us for breakfast.
Sunday afternoon we will join our extended family to honor Rick’s “Dad” and Papa.
What are your plans? How will celebrate Father’s Day and who will you be with?

Unfortunately, I live in another country (even though still within the UK)>
Iam also at County Cub Camp so will speak to him on the phone on Sunday Night. It was his birthday last week also. Its one of the biggest down side of not living near your family.
So just want to say ‘Happy Fathers Day’ Dad, I love you.
