I’ve written about my beautiful mama on the blog. I met her when I was almost 9. She started out as my stepmama but three years after she married my dad, she adopted me and my three brothers. In 1972 she not only said, “I do” ” I will” and …”I can do this,” but she also said “I love you to the moon and back.” Maybe not just like her own but pretty close. Three years later when my birth mother let go of her parental connection, in every sense of the word, my mom became an anchor, and then a rope with lots of knots in it (because us kids needed to hang on) and no matter how rough the seas were, she’s always been there through thick and thin. In the mom department, she’s all I’ve got and I’m forever grateful for her crazy courage to take on four wild children she didn’t give birth to. She’s been part of my life for 40 years…my anchor and my rope to hang onto. I love you mama!
