A funny thing happened on my way home from Kripalu and a weekend with Martha Beck. My inner voice had the space to be heard because I had dropped into a deep place of what Martha calls “Wordlessness.”
A few months ago I decided to go “off the air” on BlogTalk and do the same thing using a different tool that didn’t cost me any overhead expense. The outside world bombarded me with “build your list, it’s all in your list, the money is in your list…” While I grew a new list just for the podcasts, it takes time, effort, and meaningful connection. I’m in the business of building trust but this felt forced. And it felt way too much like work. And work is not fun. Play is fun. Meaningful connection is fun. Knowing that I’m making a difference is pure joy.
The Universe would have her way with both my podcasts and the class I recently launched to help busy women reduce stress and live happier and healthier lives. Stepmoms who have registered for the live podcast calls very rarely show up live. Nobody who registered for my Self-Care class showed up…and they paid $$ for the material.
Hmmmmm…what’s going on here? What message am I supposed to be listening to? I know the podcasts and material is helpful because I get emails all the time from women like you expressing how much they appreciate the work I’m doing in the Stepmom community.
And that’s when I got the message that both the podcasts and the Self-Care class were meant to be in the Great Wide Open. No opt-in list, no fee, no obligation from you to me whatsoever. In fact, I refunded the registration fees to everyone who signed up for class.
Does this mean everything I do will be for free? No. It does not. In fact, those of you who want to work directly with me for coaching or advice, there will be a way for you to do so but you will have to pay for it. Working one-on-one via email, Skype, FaceTime, or group coaching will be a reasonably priced fee based service. In addition to coaching services, I will also be offering my At Home Yoga service where I help you create your own home yoga practice that is specific to your needs, your goals, and your personality. I do this locally and I’ll figure out a way to cover the distance via Skype or some other real time Jetson type technology.
I will also maintain my newsletter opt-in. This helps me stay connected with you and it gives you the opportunity to be the first to know about the next podcast, the next group coaching, my next event, or the next special offer I may have. If you are on my newsletter list but no longer wish to receive it please unsubscribe. I don’t want to be spam in your inbox.
The podcasts are already out there. Once I have Self-Care 101 re-recorded so the file size is smaller, the class will be available via Stepmom University. My goal is to send the link out sometime this weekend.
In the meantime, enjoy the podcasts and hear from fabulous women like Rena Hatch, Jenna Korf, Claudette Chenevert, Mary T. Kelly, and more!
Something to Think About
Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men (and women) who find it easier to live the world they have been given, rather than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It is an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It is a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
– Muhammad Ali
When we change how we view the world, when we change how we are in the world, the world can’t help but change. As Audrey Hepburn said, Impossible says “I’m POSSIBLE.”
I dare you to stare impossible down and do it anyway.
Make it a GREAT day ladies!!
